Matt Donnelly’s Celebrity Tarot Lounge

Published by *lynne* under Tarot Edit This

Just found out that one of my favourite authors, Neil Gaiman (American Gods), will join prop comedian Carrot Top, the Madman of Comedy Amazing Jonathan The Simpsons animator David Silverman, and Teller from Penn&Teller for an onstage “Tarot reading” which will then spin off into improvisational sketches. “Matt Donnelly’s Celebrity Tarot Lounge will blend comedy, mystery, improv and a key Las Vegas ingredient: celebrity secrets” says this article from Las Vegas Weekly.

How does it work?  According to Donnelly, the celebrity will come onstage and will choose a card from a Tarot deck.  The meaning of the card is then read out.  And somehow, that will be a prompt to get the celebrity to talk about a specific aspect of themselves, to ask questions that don’t usually pop up in celebrity interviews.

Still blur and rather curious, I then clicked to the Celebrity Tarot Lounge itself, where the autoplay video shed more light on it all.

Meh.

Let’s just say that the “meaning” of the cards are going to be … amended … to pave the way for “comedy”.  For example, the “meaning” of The Moon is read as “If you have drawn The Moon, be careful when showing your ass to lots of lobsters and dogs, as they will tend to want to bite that ass.”

All I can say is “Ugh!”

Tarot Spreads: more ways to explore answers!

Published by *lynne* under Tarot Edit This

So today (technically yesterday, but I haven’t gone to bed yet) Kosh and I went to Myopic and Powell’s to get some $ back on a few boxes of books we’d managed to bring ourselves to get rid of.

Myopic got first dibs: they took nowhere near as many as we’d expected, and paid us nowhere near as much as we’d hoped.

Classic Tarot Spreads

While browsing around waiting for the evaluator to be done, I noticed this Classic Tarot Spreads book, and jumped at the chance at getting my hands on it. Not that I’m dipping into the Tarot (yet), but I do want to get a feel for other spreads out there, and experiment with what works with my Ascended Masters and Goddess oracle cards.  So that set us back $7. Net gain = $15.

Then Powell’s only took two books off of us, for a measly $1.50. Harrumph!

Click on through to get the full monty of our book disposal adventures. … and how about you?  Have you done similar book disposal efforts of your own?  Was it worth it?
