For Apryl: free BaZi / Paht Chee analysis (4)
Today, answers without, answers within continues with the analysis of Apryl’s BaZi chart.
Apryl is currently in the last year of the Ren Zi Luck Pillar (ages 32-41), and will move into the Xin Hai Luck Pillar (ages 42-51) next year. Both are predominantly Water periods — since Apryl’s Self-Element is a strong Water, the additional Water provided by these pillars brings unfavourable conditions relating to her Companion factor.
Let’s zoom in to the Luck Pillar Apryl is soon leaving:
Ren-Zi Luck Pillar (ages 32-41) and 2009’s Ji Chou Annual Pillar
This past decade was probably a difficult time for Apryl in terms of false friends and backstabbing colleagues. Notice how the Luck Pillar’s Heavenly Stem is a Yang Water, as is the Water element in the Earthly Branch associated with Rat. In addition, the Luck Pillar’s Rat interacts with the natal chart’s two sets of Monkey-Dragon to form another two Water Frame Three Harmony Combinations. Can you say Water overload?

Another point to note is that during this period, there are two Rats present: two of the same Peach Blossom Star. In isolation, two Peach Blossom Stars might indicate a slight warping of how Apryl’s charisma, sensuality and magnetism might impact her, and her relationship with others. But when you know that the whole decade has the Companion factor (correlating to friends, foes, colleagues) cast in a negative light, I suspect that the Stars have further compounded the challenges Apryl has faced friendship- and relationship-wise.
Is there anything specific to look out for in 2009?
Well, the Ox in the Earthly Branch of the Annual Pillar combines with the Rat in Apryl’s Spouse Palace to form Earth. As Earth is her Influence factor (correlating, among other things, to a significant other), and since the interaction takes place in her Spouse Palace, I wonder if she met her significant other, or got married, during this year.
While this looks hopeful, the Ox also interacts with the neighbouring Dragon in the form of a Destruction. This weakens the control that Earth has on the overly-strong Water, and takes place in the Parents Palace. This might indicate that there might be a falling-out between Apryl and her parents about her significant other.
So on one hand it looks like Apryl might find Mr Right in 2009, but on the other hand, Mr Right might not be accepted by her parents. Remember too that this would be occurring while two Peach Blossom Stars are exerting their influence on Apryl’s chart, and during a period where true friends are hard to find.
It looks like a stressful time.
Let’s see if the next year/Luck Pillar brings any relief…
Xin-Hai Luck Pillar (ages 42-51) and 2010’s Geng-Yin Annual Pillar
While there might be a slight easement of the “Companion problems” faced by Apryl in the previous decade, this Xin-Hai Luck Pillar is still very Water-based: the Pig of the Earthly Branch brings with it a Yin Water element, while the Heavenly Stem’s Xin brings forth Yin Metal, which is unfavourable because it is a Resource factor that produces Water.
Having the Xin present also indicates that Apryl’s (unfavourable) Resource factor now comes into play: watch out for depression, for example.
The Xin in the Luck Pillar can also interact with the Bing Yang Fire in the Heavenly Stem of Apryl’s natal chart’s Month Pillar. This combination is associated with betrayal, although sometimes indicates a period of lusty sensuality. With all the Water present, this combination might well produce Wood, bringing a favourable element into play: Apryl’s Output factor, which correlates to intelligence, creativity, and what you produce at work, etc. I wonder about what it means that the one and only source of Fire in the chart is ‘taken away’, though…
So a betrayal might be the impetus, or the source of inspiration, for Apryl to produce something successfully…?
Something else to keep in mind: the Pig in the Luck Pillar interacts with the Monkeys in Apryl’s natal chart to form two individual Harms. Harms usually involve feeling of betrayal, with tormenting, lingering after-effects. And while a Harm indicates a once-off incident, said incident usually comes out of nowhere, and is difficult to be prepared for. Apryl thus might be in for something nasty involving her children, and involving her extended family.
Since both these Harms ‘take away’ the (unfavourable) Metal in Apryl’s chart, a side-effect of the incidents might be to provide some clarity of thought, perhaps an a-ha moment. However, by impacting the Monkey which provides some of the rootedness/ foundation of the Earth in Apryl’s chart, these Harms might compromise the strength of the favourable Earth, therefore allowing the Water to run too strongly, once again raising the question of false friends and backstabbing colleagues.

Is there anything specific to look out for in 2010?
Well, the Tiger in the Earthly Branch of the Annual Pillar interacts with the Monkeys in two different ways: there’s the Tiger-Monkey Clash, and there’s the Ungrateful Punishment that’s only missing the Snake for completion.
The Tiger-Monkey Clash can be read very similarly to the effects of the Harms above. While there might be a positive outcome form the dampening of the Metal, the Clash indirectly weakens the Earth, and this allows Water to surge through this period.
Having only two out of the three needed to form the Tiger-Monkey-Snake Ungrateful Punishment means that the impact of this interaction is muted (even as it also weakens Earth, as above). However, it is important to note that this interaction is correlated with betrayal: indicating Apryl might be prone to being betrayed, or might expect to be betrayed and thus acts as if she has already been.
Stepping back, you can see that during the ages of 42-51, the strength of Earth in Apryl’s chart is compromised, more so in 2010. This allows the already too strong Water to surge even more strongly, thus washing away everything else in its path. This once again looks to be a challenging time for Apryl.

To my limited understanding, I think Apryl would do well to immerse herself in all things Earth: if not working in an Earth-related industry, perhaps look to cultivating a pastime in pottery, sculpture, gardening, etc. This way, perhaps she can still keep her Water in check, and literally ground herself against the unfavourable elements coming her way.
In the meantime…
