Paht Chee analysis: Choy (6): BaZi Q&A!
I hope you’ve been enjoying the BaZi Q&A featured on answers without, answers within over the past week. Today we feature an immediate concern that Choy sought help on via email last week:
5) I was offered to rejoin my ex-employer (a Bank) at a more senior position. I’m now attached with another Bank (a competitor). While the package and challenge that the new job offers are tempting, I wonder my chart permits this move. I’m an ambitious person with a lot of energy, but not much luck. Always bump into the wrong sort of people.
With the little I learned from Joey Yap’s book, I notice the presence of following elemental relationships between my Chart, the 10-year Luck Pillar and the Annual Pillar
- The Xu [Dog] in the Luck Pillar clashes with the You [Rooster] in my Spouse Palace. There is already a mild clash between the Xu [Dog] in my Year Pillar and the You [Rooster] in my Spouse Palace. You [Rooster] is my favorable element.
- The Bing [Yang Fire] in the Luck Pillar also clashes with the Ren [Yang Water] in my Month Pillar. Ren [Yang Water] is my Parallel, a favorable element.
- The Chou [Ox] of the Annual Pillar has a Harm relationship with the 2 Wu [Horse] in the Chart. This clash helps to weaken the negative element, hence my Day Master [Self-Element] is more able to control the Wealth Luck.
The clashes may signify some tough times ahead. I wonder they are career related. Joey Yap says the solution to the problem (clashes) is our action. I wonder what action I should take. Move or stand?
Well, Choy already did a lot of the homework already. Let’s look at the three points he brought up, plus some others, while referring to the chart below:

First thing to note: the banking field is a Metal industry, which is favourable for Choy’s Water self-element. Good, he’s in the right place. Even better would be to figure out if there’s also a Water aspect to the job.
Next, Choy’s current Luck Pillar and 2009 are both Earth pillars. The Ox in 2009 contains Hidden Water and Metal, both of which are good for Choy, and serve to quietly support him during this year.
Okay, now for the actual “career analysis”: while all elements serve different functions within a successful career, evaluating the Influence factor is a good first step, as this correlates to upward mobility and rank. In Choy’s case, the Influence factor is Earth. Since his is a weak Self-Element, Earth is an unfavourable element. In order to succeed, he needs to be in a situation where his Self-Element is strengthened and the Earth weakened.
We just made the observation that currently, Choy is going through a very Earthy period. So that kinda counts against his career success in general. Let’s dig a little deeper: (more…)
