Paht Chee analysis: Choy (6): BaZi Q&A!

Published by *lynne* under Ba Zi, Paht Chee, zChoy Edit This

I hope you’ve been enjoying the BaZi Q&A featured on answers without, answers within over the past week.  Today we feature an immediate concern that Choy sought help on via email last week:

5) I was offered to rejoin my ex-employer (a Bank) at a more senior position. I’m now attached with another Bank (a competitor). While the package and challenge that the new job offers are tempting, I wonder my chart permits this move. I’m an ambitious person with a lot of energy, but not much luck. Always bump into the wrong sort of people.

With the little I learned from Joey Yap’s book, I notice the presence of following elemental relationships between my Chart, the 10-year Luck Pillar and the Annual Pillar

  1. The Xu [Dog] in the Luck Pillar clashes with the You [Rooster] in my Spouse Palace. There is already a mild clash between the Xu [Dog] in my Year Pillar and the You [Rooster] in my Spouse Palace. You [Rooster]  is my favorable element.
  2. The Bing [Yang Fire] in the Luck Pillar also clashes with the Ren [Yang Water] in my Month Pillar. Ren [Yang Water] is my Parallel, a favorable element.
  3. The Chou [Ox] of the Annual Pillar has a Harm relationship with the 2 Wu [Horse] in the Chart. This clash helps to weaken the negative element, hence my Day Master [Self-Element] is more able to control the Wealth Luck.

The clashes may signify some tough times ahead. I wonder they are career related. Joey Yap says the solution to the problem (clashes) is our action. I wonder what action I should take. Move or stand?

Well, Choy already did a lot of the homework already.  Let’s look at the three points he brought up, plus some others, while referring to the chart below:

(Choy) Ba Zi focus on Career Analysis including Luck Pillar and Annual Pillar

First thing to note: the banking field is a Metal industry, which is favourable for Choy’s Water self-element.  Good, he’s in the right place.  Even better would be to figure out if there’s also a Water aspect to the job.

Next, Choy’s current Luck Pillar and 2009 are both Earth pillars.  The Ox in 2009 contains Hidden Water and Metal, both of which are good for Choy, and serve to quietly support him during this year.

Okay, now for the actual “career analysis”: while all elements serve different functions within a successful career, evaluating the Influence factor is a good first step, as this correlates to upward mobility and rank.  In Choy’s case, the Influence factor is Earth.  Since his is a weak Self-Element, Earth is an unfavourable element.  In order to succeed, he needs to be in a situation where his Self-Element is strengthened and the Earth weakened.

We just made the observation that currently, Choy is going through a very Earthy period.  So that kinda counts against his career success in general.  Let’s dig a little deeper: (more…)

Paht Chee analysis: Choy (5): BaZi Q&A!

Published by *lynne* under Ba Zi, Paht Chee, zChoy Edit This

Welcome to the penultimate installment of Choy’s Ba Zi Q&A!  From questions about Peach Blossom Stars, evaluating the Wealth factor, and confirming the unfavourability of Wood and Earth, today’s question is as follows:

5) According to Lilian Too’s book on Bazi, my Prosperity Luck is Wood, because my Fate Luck is Earth, i.e. the element of my Year branch. I’m confused. My Wealth element is Wood or Fire?

Yeah, I was confused too! In Lillian Too’s book, it’s not well-presented or explained, but from what I can figure out, she actually talks about two separate things:

  • the ’system’ we are familiar with, where you have the five elements, and they interact with each other in productive, exhaustive, and controlling cycles: in this system, your Wealth element is Fire.
  • The Cycle of Chi

  • then there’s a separate “Cycle of Chi” where the five elements correlate to different Chi Energy / Luck factors, which she brings up when talking about “timing”.  It is this ‘perspective’ that states your Fate Luck is Earth and your Prosperity Luck is Wood.

.

Still confused?  Yeah, me too!

I tried using this ‘perspective’ once: see Lillith’s “Timing” post here.  The results seemed to jive well with Lillith’s experience.

However, the entire section about this ‘perspective’ is really poorly explained in Lillian Too’s book: I was actually pleasantly surprised that what I’d managed to pull together for Lillith seemed to match.  When I tried this perspective on subsequent charts, however, I felt I was really struggling to connect with the chart and what I was supposed to be seeing.

Add to the above the fact that an important step in using this method involves the Earthly Branch of the Month Pillar… and it is this particular Pillar that is in question when comparing charts produced by Lillian Too’s website and just about all other online BaZi calculators!  (See my Ba Zi world in disarray)

So I decided to just not bother with this ‘perspective’ at the moment.  Interestingly, I have not seen this ‘perspective’ in the two JoeyYap books I have.  I take that to indicate I made the right decision.

So, this is a long way of saying don’t worry about it.

Fire is your Wealth element.  Let’s just keep it at that.

The next post features Choy’s and my attempt to decipher his chart specifically relating to a job opportunity that presented itself about a week ago.  Stay tuned!   In the meantime…
